Founder and Coordinator
Isidore Guy Makaya arrived in Canada from Spain in 2005. A curious and thoughtful mind, he finds joy in reading, writing, learning, and exploring. He constantly reflects on the world around him. A writer in his spare time, he has published several works, including Le cas Makosso, which earned him the Radio-Canada Short Story Prize in 2011.
Aminata Konaté
Director
Aminata Konaté is an entrepreneur and educator whose roots now flourish in Yellowknife. Founder of My African Cuisine, she brings the soul of African gastronomy to northern tables, while co-leading A&M Entertainment, where art, rhythm, and culture converge in vibrant celebration.
Angélique Ruzindana Umunyana
Director
Originally from Rwanda, Angélique Ruzindana Umunyana settled in Yellowknife in 2005, never imagining that the North would become her anchor. A scientist by training — with a master’s degree in chemistry and a PhD in microbiology — she combines analytical precision with a sharp writing style.
