Isidore Guy Makaya

Founder and Coordinator

Isidore Guy Makaya arrived in Canada from Spain in 2005. A curious and thoughtful mind, he finds joy in reading, writing, learning, and exploring. He constantly reflects on the world around him. A writer in his spare time, he has published several works, including Le cas Makosso, which earned him the Radio-Canada Short Story Prize in 2011.

Fueled by a rich inner world, he settled in Yellowknife in 2016 and founded Éditions Présence Francophone. Deeply engaged in community life, he continues to write and publish books with passion and purpose.

Originally from Congo-Brazzaville, Makaya holds a master’s degree in public law (Congo-Brazzaville), a postgraduate diploma in political science (Nancy, France), and a master’s in history education (Sherbrooke, Canada). He also spent seven years pursuing doctoral studies and research in international environmental law.
